How minutes work
A minute is a minute of finished documentary. Nothing else counts.
You pay the actual length
When you approve a plan, its length is set aside. When the episode is finished, you're charged its real running time, to the second, and the rest goes back. A long run never costs more than 15% over the length you chose.
Planning is free
Research, the proposal and every revision you ask for cost nothing. Change your mind as often as you like before you approve.
Failures are refunded
If a production fails, the minutes set aside for it are returned automatically. You don't need to ask.
Monthly first, then top-ups
Monthly minutes reset every 30 days and don't roll over. Top-up minutes never expire and are only used once the monthly ones are gone.

What does a 20-minute episode cost?
Its actual length. If you ask for 20 minutes and the finished episode runs 18:40, you're charged 18 minutes and 40 seconds. You need the full 20 available when you approve, since that's what is set aside. On Free, episodes go up to 10 minutes.
Do unused monthly minutes roll over?
No. Monthly minutes reset every 30 days. Top-up minutes are different: they never expire.
What happens if I run out mid-month?
You can still listen to everything you've made, ask questions about it and browse Discover. To produce something new, buy a top-up pack or wait for your minutes to reset.
Do follow-ups and questions cost minutes?
Asking questions about an episode is free. A follow-up episode, such as Part II, is a new documentary, so it uses minutes like any other.
Can I cancel Premium?
Yes, any time from your account page. Premium stays active until the end of the period you've paid for, then you move to Free. Your episodes and top-up minutes stay with you.
Which currency and payment methods?
Prices are in US dollars. Payments are handled by our payment provider; we never see or store your card number. Your bank may convert the amount to your local currency.
Is there a refund if I don't like an episode?
Failed productions are refunded automatically. If an episode finishes but something is clearly wrong with it, use “Report a problem” in the player and we'll look at it. For anything else, write to us.
